Transformative Works Policy

For transparency and ease of use reasons, our policy on people reviewing or streaming our games is detailed below. This may be updated or changed at any time without warning.

With proper credit* to the original property, you may:

  • Use images, screencaps, and video footage of our games for streaming and reviewing purposes.

  • Use narrative or dialogue text from the game in reasonable quantities for reviewing purposes. (Please don’t upload the entire script somewhere.)

  • Use our character’s likenesses and characterizations for transformative works such as fanart and fanfiction. (However, you may not use our official branding or logos on works you intend to sell.)

You may NOT:

  • Play the music in any of our games in a video online. Our music has one-time use license for us to use it in the game, but this generally does not extend for use in videos. We are not the owners of the music tracks used, so our advice is that you go into ‘Preferences’ and turn off the music for the purpose of recording video. If you do not do this, the copyright holder may flag your video for infringement.

  • Use our official branding on any merchandise you intend to sell.

We prefer that if you stream, review, or create fanworks of any of our games, that you send us a link to your work via one of our social media channels, but this is not a requirement. If you do, please let us know if we have permission to share your work on our official social media pages.

* In this case, proper credit is as simple as dropping the game’s name somewhere in your work. It doesn’t have to be in the work itself (particularly in the case of fanart) - leaving a link in the description of your posted work is good enough! If it’s work you intend to sell, please post a version of it on your social media with a link back to the game in the caption, or include a link back to the game in the item description if you make sales online.
